Spray Tan Aftercare: How to Make Your Glow Last Longer
Prep gets your tan started right, but aftercare is what keeps it looking good for a full week or more. Here's what we tell every Petal Pop Tan client before we leave.
Respect your rinse time
Whatever development time we recommend โ usually 4โ8 hours, or 1 hour with our Express Rapid Tan add-on โ try to avoid water, sweat, and tight clothing until then. Rinsing too early is the most common cause of a patchy result.
Your first rinse
Use lukewarm water only, no soap or exfoliating products, and let the water run clear. You'll see bronzer wash away โ that's normal guide color, not your actual tan, which will continue to develop over the following hours.
Moisturize daily
Dry skin is the enemy of a long-lasting tan. Apply an oil-free, fragrance-light lotion every day, focusing on drier areas like elbows, knees, and ankles where fading shows up first.
Skip long, hot showers
Hot water and long showers strip color faster. Keep showers shorter and lukewarm, and pat skin dry instead of rubbing with a towel.
Avoid exfoliants and pools
Save body scrubs, retinol, and heavy exfoliation for after your tan has fully faded. Chlorine and saltwater both accelerate fading, so plan pool or lake days accordingly if you're anywhere near Presque Isle this summer.
Ready for your next glow?
Follow this routine and most Petal Pop Tan clients get 7โ10 even days of color. Book your next session or ask about our Glow Starter membership to keep your color topped up all season.
